We had the pleasure of partnering with Makai Brewing Company on a comprehensive design refresh that balanced brand consistency with creative evolution. Our goal was to elevate their visual identity while celebrating the tropical, coastal spirit that defines their brand.

Brand Refresh
While Makai had an existing brand, we refined and modernized key elements to better reflect their growing presence in the craft beer market. This included subtle updates to their logo, a more cohesive color system, and design elements that brought more energy and polish to their packaging and merchandise.

Custom Style Guide
We created a custom style guide tailored to Makai’s brand personality. This document became the cornerstone of their visual communication—outlining updated typography, color palettes, graphic treatments, and logo usage. It ensured consistency across all platforms while offering flexible guidelines to allow for seasonal and product-specific creativity.

3D Tiki Figure Design
A highlight of the project was the creation of a 3D model of Makai’s signature Tiki figure. This custom sculpt was developed for use in promotional materials, packaging, and future merchandise opportunities. It added a bold, tactile element to the brand and gave them a memorable visual mascot that stands out in a crowded market.

Beer Can Designs
We designed five unique beer cans, each with its own story, color scheme, and illustrative vibe. These designs balanced individuality with a strong visual system, ensuring they looked great on the shelf together while standing out on their own. Each can drew inspiration from tropical themes, local ingredients, and Makai’s adventurous branding.

Merch Design
To support retail and event efforts, we created custom designs including t-shirts, hats, decals and merchandise graphics. These designs blended laid-back island aesthetics with modern typography—resulting in pieces that fans are proud to wear both in and out of the taproom.
